it's not about what I do, it's about what Jesus did.

The devotional I'm going through is on self-worth and this morning I realized (and this was very profound for me) - it's not about what I do, it's about what Jesus did. I've looked for self-worth is so many places other than Jesus - thinness, fitness, financial success, working in EDs. So many of these have been healed over the years, but financial success is still hard because budgeting is hard and life is expensive. It always feels like it'd be better and easier to make more money, especially as we get ready to welcome baby number three into the family and the childcare expense of that while I work (while I do make more than the childcare expense) is large. I used to think that any money I make is great and can go to savings or fun, but now it's like I have to work to contribute to our family if we want to continue living in this area.
The devotional asked today, "What do you think would help you remember your true status before God?" And I think it's reminding myself of the title of this post: It's not about what I do, it's about what Jesus did. God has reconciled you through Jesus.
